  • Playback error in Avide DVXpress Pro

i’m using avid DVXpress pro 4.6 with mojo.
    i have a dual 1 GHz G4- 2GB DDR DRAM syst mac version 10.3.5

Exception: A locate buffer Mgr:Find Secondary Buffer Slot Error- invalid address

the first 3 mins of a 75 min documentary will no longer play in real time and the above error message displayed. Previously, I had not had a problem laing back this or any other section.
the project is at low res except for the titles which are at 1:1. the first four 1:1 titles are RENDERED over tiff images and then there’s a dissolve to video (15:1) that is also rendered. The playback shows flickering horizontal lines in the titles/still image section and the 15:1 video stutters on playback for a while after the dissolve. the timeline is showing a red line when playing this section.
if i copy and paste this 3 min section into another sequence it plays the 1:1 tiles and video fine.

i have successfully played this section for the past 2 months.
the ending 1:1 credts also play fine
any suggestions as to what the performance issue is? error message?

is there a way to delete any material other than what is used in my timeline? I’d want to retain all the bin and logged information but just remove the actual media files.

    thanks

The fact that the bad section plays when copied to a new timeline is telling us that maybe the timeline itself is corrupted. Try to copy and paste the whole sequence and play.

If that fails, try marking an in and out on a small portion of the timeline and use “play in to out” (on the “6” key at the top of the keyboard). Keep extending the out until the timeline won’t play in to out and there is your problem – corrupt clip. Need to replace it.

Let us know if this works. I am not familiar with the exact terms of your error message, but your description leads me to believe this might work.
