    Hello all

Off course at the holidays I updated my Win7 64bit via Windows update. And what, Vegas won’t play. Meaning Play button won’t do anything. You can’t drag the marker either. Only if you put marker to the middle of project, and move a clip over it, its show the video , but with play button, only still picture.

Tried to google this during the weekend, and support is on holidays etc… maybe someone knows here WTF before I use the restore point.

Weird.. and not a general problem. At least, I’m one “Windows Defender” download away from up-to-date. Just for grins, try re-installing Vegas. Don’t know what you’re using; I’m on Vegas 10b (with the Sony AVC from 10a).

This could be an audio issue. Do you have 64-bit drivers for your audio card? Are you using them? (check Options | Preferences | Audio Device to see)

Also you didn’t mention if this was 10.a or 10.b (likely b if you upgraded just in the last few days. More info on what codec you were running, etc. I would assume it to be something specific with your machine setup? And John is also right, does your machine work right with everything else? Like the video and sound play Windows media player just fine? How much RAM on your machine? etc. An over the top upgrade from 32 to 64 bit is a fairly major upgrade, so making sure all drivers are fine is important. Best of luck…we’ll do what we can. But I’m unclear if you can even restore point that upgrade.

I’ve actually had this same issue after upgrading to “click-crash” 10 as I refer to it. The error I get is that playback “is not available” this usually happens after a render, and requires a reboot. Checked all of the playback option John mentions and nothing…I’ve been using Vegas for many years now, but after the train wrecks of “click-crash” 9.0 and 10.0, I am seriously considering jumping ship to Premiere…

Well.. couldn’t find the reason why, but reinsalling helped.

Knowing the solution is equally as good as knowing the cause. 😉 Thanks for closing the loop and posting back.
