Play HD from DVD5 with PS3
Hi,
I can’t seem to find this on the internet, so I ask it here:I would like to burn my project in 720p or 1080p to a dvd and view it on my television (with ps3). i know I know, DVD only supports 720 x 480. But this doesn’t apply to Data discs does it? Is it possible to export in HD, drag it on to my Empty DVD, insert into the PS3, just select the movie and start playback?!!
Yes I know there are lots of other ways like streaming/copying to ps3 but I’m just curious.

You should look at the PS3 file playback specs to determine what file types, if any it can play. See if this helps. Reading the manual might be a good idea.

I think the trick you’re looking for is low(er) bitrate AVCHD on a DVD5. I’ve done it a bunch. It works, as the data rate for the AVCHD file is low enough that it can be read. That’s the key, as well as only using short form stuff (30 minutes or less, typically)
I’m not sure it it works on a PS3, but I’ve used it on BD players with good success.

You can’t playback a Data DVD on a PS3 – you need to make a bluray DVD (or a blu ray structure on a DVD5 or 9)
