Platinum vs. professional version
Ok, so I’m rendering to DVD architect and I’ve read some of Edward’s blogs and surprise, I do not have the ability to manipulate many custom settings such as bitrate, which is however available in the architect. What does that do for me? Anything? Also, am I going to run into limitations that are significant with the platinum version, generally speaking beyond unlimited tracks, what are the limitations of platinum I am going to run into creating masters?

It’s better to render to MPEG2 and AC3 straight from Vegas because of the loss of color information going through a DV intermediate. Is the loss detectable to your eyes? Only you can determine.
If you upgrade to the full version, you will have access to the “Custom” button. You also get many other features with the pro version including unlimited tracks, ability to use scripts, snapping lines, full rendering control, etc…

How are you going to DVD Architect?
You only have a few options from Platinum. Does “Make Movie” adjust the bitrate for you? If not, you could end up with an MPEG2 file that’s too large and you do NOT want DVD Architect to have to recompress the MPEG2 file.
Otherwise, you have to render out something for DVD Architect to use. A common format for that would be DV-AVI which can cause the color loss issues I was mentioning.
Not knowing your workflow, I can’t speak to your exact methods. I was speaking more generically. Whatever your workflow, you have more options in the pro version.
