Hi seems there are major limitations when using 32 bit platinum 11.0 to render HD… Seems to be many complaints no matter how much memory you have, you are limited to 5 minutes, then rendering fails, I am considering using platinum 11.0 to edit HD with…any general info on limitations / rendering issues…..thanks.

What exact format are you rendering to? How much free disc space do you have? One mistake is to render to uncompressed (or low-compression) AVI formats, and this gobbles disc space like crazy.

If you’re rendering for Bluray or youtube/vimeo/etc, then use the Sony AVC codec and choose an appropriate preset from the Bluray or Internet presets.

Do your renders always stop at the same place? And what sort of failure is it? Does Vegas actually crash or just display a message? Try a simple project with a known good video clip, no effect, etc, and see if you get more reliable renders.

No, I haven’t done any HD project yet, just gathering info, there seems to be a lot of postings on the web re vegas platinum, unable to do meaningful HD rendering, is this your experience? Do you do a lot of HD editing and outputting to blu-ray, have you outputted an entire movie on HD? What are you finding. I have a computer with I3-550 3.06 dual processor, 4 gb ram @1366 Mhz memory speed, is this a good setup for HD?

I use Movie Studio Platinum 10, but my projects tend to be fairly simple and shorter (less than 30mins) and only output to DVD, although my sources are AVCHD camcorder and DSLR stills. I’ve had no issues, apart from the inevitable sluggish previews on a relatively modest PC. The only HD output I’ve done is short clips for testing and demos, so I can’t really comment on HD performance.
