  • Plasma Comp Size HELP??

    hi all,
i thought i knew what i was doing, but as i usually find out…i don’t.

i’m doing a video for a 42inch plasma screen. I’m setting this up usign the DV Widescreen comp size and then interpreting all my footage (mainly .psd and .ai files) as DV Widescreen. I thought this was the way to do things.

But when i hit the “Toggle Pixel Aspect Ratio Correction (TPARC)” button, many of my logos look stretched horizontally. But if i interpret the logos as “square pixels” then hit the TPARC button, the logos look fine.

help? what am i doing wrong…any help would be appreciated?

or should i be working in square pixels 864 x 480???

Well I’m first assuming your working with standard definition…

working with the 720×480 comp set to 1.2 pixel aspect ratio or the widescreen comp. your logo’s should be set to square if they are external images or photoshop files. they should look okay in the comp that is 1.2 par when viewing the correction.

    andrew,
thx for your response…i thought that when working with 1.2, you should convert everything (footage, artwork, etc) to 1.2?

    i’m lost now….

footage should always be interpreted the way it was created. afterFX will mix the pixels for you. It took me a long time to catch on but once I stopped second guessing everything worked fine.
