  • Placing Video in Cinema4d

Hi,I am currently using a demo version of cimena4d r10 and have done an animation of a city with a camera travelling through the buildings and would like to know how to place video in the scene.
I have shot some video of a person against greenscreen and have already tried creating a new material and loading the texture of my keyed video to a plane but the video doesnt play and stays still like a freezeframe whilst the camera animation plays normally.

Any ideas on how I could place the real video into cinema 4d???

    Thanks

Have you rendered out your animation?

it should animate when you render but if you want to see it animate when you are scrubbing the timeline you need to check off Animate Preview in the Illumination tab of the material that contains the movie.

it usually happens automatically but if not try going into the movie – click on the name of the movie in the channel where you placed it in the material. That will take you to the Bitmap Shader properties, click on the Animation tab and click the Calculate button on the bottom. That should do it (unless there’s a problem with the video coming in)

The video will start playing from the start of the animation. If your video is, for example, thirty frames long but the C4D camera doesn’t get to the video until frame 31 on the C4D timeline, all you’re going to see is a still frame. So you need to tell the application when to start playing the video. You’ll find it in the same place as the “calculate” button. Tell it to start at frame xx and conclude at frame yy (presumably the length of the video clip you’re using). I’m using a slightly older version of C4D so it’s possible some of the buttons have moved around – but the principle should still apply. Good luck!
