You might want to try and re-wrap the AVI contents into MP4 with AviDemux 2.5. Try using the parameters Audio: COPY, Video: COPY, Format: MP4 and it should just copy the audio and video from the AVI file to an MP4 file. See if Vegas Pro will work correctly with the resulting MP4 file. This should happen very, very quickly because it’s just doing a copy into a new container and not a re-render.

Make sure to use AviDemux 2.5 and not 2.6. Vegas Pro has problems with files from the 2.6 version so I’ve gone back to using 2.5.

The Media info you posted says your source file is 1920×1080 @47.9 FPS. This is not a standard video format. Then you are trying to render to 60i profile. Please verify that the media info posted is the rendered file or source file.

Who created the 47FPS file? I would get a new file of the source in 1920×1080-30p or 60p if the source was shot that way. Vegas maybe having a hard time with MP4 in AVI, but my guess the conversion from 47FPS to 60i at such a low bitrate (1.9Mbs) is creating the picture issues you see.

One thing I would try is using the match media button in the upper right corner of the prject settings. Then choose one of your source files. Then when in Render As, choose a profile under Sony AVC that has an = sign next to it. If an = does not exist, choose an Internet profile of 1920×1080-30p.

2Mbs for 1080p is really low for posting to YouTube. I would see if you can get the source material above 12Mbs, and render to at least the same bitrate.

If your source material is coming from some other NLE, like final cut, get an export to ProRes, DNxHD.mov, or XDCAM-EX.mxf, and not .AVI. If it is something like Resolve, export to MXF OP1A, Sony MPEG4 422(225Mbs) profile, or the XDCAM MPEG2 profile. Then bring that file into Vegas for editing.

Hi Aaron, thanks for the recommendations! It’s all gotten way too complicated for me so I’ve just started it from scratch using some different videos instead. It seems to be working okay now.
