  • Pixellated Video in Preview but not in Original File?

Posted by Frankie Jones on December 8, 2016 at 9:03 pm

    Hey,
Bit of an issue, looking for a fix rather than a suggestion to re-encode to a different format as this really isn’t feasible for me in this situation.
When I download a video from YouTube (i.e. go to Video Manager and download something I have uploaded previously), the video when played back in a media player is perfect, but when played back in Vegas 14 is terribly pixellated:

The stranger thing is, there is no issue when it’s put into Vegas 12:

Does anybody know a fix so the files run like they do in Vegas 12 in Vegas 14?

    Pure curiosity !

If you right-click your footage on the timeline – go to Properties – General – is it the same plug-in, which is used in both Vegas Pro 12 and Vegas Pro 14 ?

For Sony Vegas pro 12 – I can se your preview is set to Best Full – what are the settings for the preview in Vegas Pro 14 ?

    Hi,

And how is your preview quality set up in Vegas14?
If you render it and play in the player, is it pixelated then too?

    Best regards

Preview Quality is set to Best Full in both.
Video Effects used are just a colour curve and studio to computer rbg levels in both 12 and 14.

The plugin used in Vegas 14 is:
    Name: compoundplug.dll
    Folder: C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 14.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\compoundplug
    Format: AVC
    Version: Version 14.0 (Build 178) 64-bit
Company: MAGIX Computer Products Intl. Co.

The plugin used in Vegas 12 is:
    Name: compoundplug.dll
    Folder: C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 12.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\compoundplug
    Format: Sony AVC
    Version: Version 12.0 (Build 726) 64-bit
    Company: Sony Creative Software Inc.

Im guessing Magix changed something, as it’s not the same plugin version?

    “Version 14.0 (Build 178) 64-bit”

You have to upgrade to Vegas Pro 14, build 201 !
