    Hi,

I’ve created a series of videos that I want to put on a single DVD. The footage is HDV 1080i and I edited as such. I set the project quality to BEST and used 2-pass render to render to standard definition again at the BEST quality.
    Variable bit rate
    Maximum (bps): 9,500,000
    Average (bps): 6,000,000
    Minimum (bps): 192,000

The total project is about 6.2gb and I used dual layer DVD for my project. I told DVD Architect to use dual layer DVD.

My problem is that I’m experiencing some pixelation in parts of the final product. I suspect it is in the render and not DVDA.

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

    Thanks

    Pete

It looks like you’re using a default template which, IMO, has a minimum that’s far too low and could be the reason for your pixelation.
Use a bitrate calculator like the one at https://www.johncline.com/bitcalc110.zip to determine optimum render settings.

    Thanks Mike,

I kinda thought that may be the issue. I’m wondering if, since I’m outputting to a dual layer DVD, (assuming the total project size is less than 8.5gb) if I could use CBR instead of VBR and set the CBR to 8,000,000. Do you think that would resolve the problem?

    Thanks Mike,

Since the total size of the project is 6.2gb and I’m burning to dual layer DVD (8.5gb) do you think it would be better to render with CBR of 8,000,000?

Pete, as long as the project is no more than about 2 hr. 15 min., that makes perfect sense.
Anything longer and you need to use a bitrate calculator.
