Pixelated Text when importing AVI
I have created titles and video etc in Adobe After Effects CS3. These are in DV Pal format. When I export them i do so with NO compression (fully uncompressed AVI’s) and when i play them back they look superb.
However, I import them into Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, with the same settings as After Effects (ie DV Pal – Square format as per original) the text becomes pixelated and quality reduced.
I dont understand this as the file played alone is of highest quality. Only once imported into Premier does it become blocky and pixelated on the text.
Points:
1) Both After Effects project, the uncompressed AVi and the Premiere pro project are all on same PAL settings.
2) To rule out that it was just the preview quality, I have exported from Premiere and it is just as bad.
3) I am using “Import File” as normal to get my footage into Premiere.
4) To rule out any other settings issues I have used “Interpret Footage” to try and comform if different but is definitely the same.Could anyone help with this problem at all as it’s becoming increasingly embarrassing to submit work and see it in poor state!

Is the After Effect video 720×576?

Yes it is….720 x 576 in DV Pal, 1.07 pixel ratio and 4:3 format. As I say, when I watch the AVI back BEFORE importing it into Premiere, it’s perfect quality.

In your original post you said the AE PAR was square, now it is 1.07?
It should be 1.067.When you export from Premiere…is it also uncompressed?

Sorry….just checking the figures…..
…it’s the Adobe standard defaults for DV Pal.Adobe After Effects Project and export listed as:
D1 / DV Pal (1.07) 4:3 Frame Aspect Ratio. Resolution: Full 720 x 576
(There is no compostition setting for 1.067 that I can see!!!)Adobe Premiere project is identified as the default which says:
D1 / DV Pal (1.067) 4:3 Frame Aspect Ratio. Resolution Full 720 x 576
So i can see the difference (nless After Effects is just rounding up the decimels?)
IN A NUTSHELL:
When I create the After Effects composition, there is NO setting for 1.067….DV Pal is listed as 1.07
In Premiere it is always listed as 1.067 (with NO 1.07 mentioned)I have always assumed that the settings are actually the same and After Effects doesn;t say 1.067 beacsue it’s just rounding the decimel up?

Is there a way to send the AE file to me too? I work in PAL and haven’t seen this issue so I’d be keen to know what’s happening with your project settings.
