    Hello,
I have been trying to fix and in the future AVOID the issue of having a bit of pixelating around the eyes of my talking heads.

1 – Why does this occur? Can it be avoided?
2 – Is it because of lighting when the video is shot or is it a sequence settings issue?

What I have done to fix so far (this is a mild repair it never 100% removes my problem)
My sequence settings are the standard in FCP for NTSC DV

    Frame 720X480 NTSC DV(3:2)
    Pixel Aspect ratio: NTSC-CCIR601/DV(…
    Field Dominance: Lower (Even)
    Editing Timebase 29.97
    QT Video Settings:
I have tried both Apple ProRes 422(HQ) and the DV/DVCPRO-NTSC settings.
I have been told it is best to deinterlace in Compressor than to Deinterlace in the Sequence settings.

I have also tried in various combos:
    Flicker Filter set to max
.5 Gausian Blur on Alpha+RGB and Just Alpha
YES – I have done a Broadcast safe filter and color corrected

So now you know what I know. Any help would be appreciated.
If there are any Video Tutorials about this issue, I would be thankful for the link.

What are you viewing it on?… an external monitor, or the canvas window on the computer?

    Okay.
    As Promised.
It is like I said before. It does not always occur. But in these two instances they do happen.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible that you have engaged the digital zoom. Like you zoomd past where the camera would let you zoom optically? It seems to me like the artifacts from this shot show up when you are using the Digital Zoom.

Also, lighting will play a factor. It seems like this is shot with available flourescent lighting. A small LED light on the face might to a lot to punch up this shot.

    Jennifer,

Put that shot in a different timeline, then go to Sequence>>Settings and change the compressor to ProRes and re-render. Is that any better?
