I’m capturing in Premiere Pro CS5 using HDV 1080i then
transferring the footage via bridge to After Effects and working also in HDV 1080 29.97
Here are my after effects composition settings
    Width: 1440px, Height: 1080px
Lock aspect ratio to 4:3 (1.33) is off.
Pixel aspect ratio: HDV 1080/DVCpro HD 720 (1.33)
    Frame Aspect ratio: 16:9 (1.78)

I’m not sure how to deal with the pixel aspect ratio issue. If I make a circle mask as a test on output to animation or hdv preset the circle becomes an ellipse. If I import the file back into PP it still appears as an ellipse. I am missing a step but I’m not sure where I need to fix the process.
Any advice would be great. Also, I don’t have FCP so I do not have extra export options in Quicktime player.

    thanks

The 1920×1080 comp. size does solve the problem within the composition as far as clicking the pixel aspect ratio button but I still have to double click on the footage to add a mask and then footage is the smaller size and again an oval becomes a ellipse back in the composition. Do I need to reinterpret the footage itself?

There is a pixel aspect ratio button in the layer window too…
