  • Pixel Aspect Ratio under 1024 x 576 (PAL)

    I’ve always meticulously worked 768 x 576 with square pixels and rendered down to 720 x 576.

But I’ve made a habit of working 1024 x 576 square pixels and converting to 720 x 576 for 4:3 anamorphic. I’ve also never made any compensation for PAL aspect ratio for the HD deliveries I’ve made (been at this for over five years but these are still few and far between).

Do I need to make any aspect ratio compensation when working on a computer monitor with 16:9 frames. Or should I just keep within a square pixel set-up? I’ve never believed it to be necessary but….

spaceman works 1050×576 and creates a full height anamorphic
at 720×576.spaceman believes 26 pixel blanking is the reason for this. (13 pixels each side.)
