ALmost anything is possible w/o Excalibur. It just makes it easier and faster to do. In Vegas 5 (I haven’t installed 7 yet) and I’m sure in 7 also, you can do it with pan/crop or Track Motion.

Absolutely. I prefer PAN/CROP-resize the footage I want for PiP (make sure it’s on the UPPER track) position where you want it and you’re done. Before closing out the PAN/CROP take a quick look and make sure there are no strange or left over keyframes (sometimes we forget) and thats all there is to it.

Take a look at the first four issues of my newsletters to see how to create PIP’s using Track Motion. It was originally written for Vegas 4 but the same techniques still apply in Vegas 7. And, yes, it can absolutely be done without Excalibur. BTW, PIPs created with Excalibur do so via Pan/Crop because scripts cannot adjust Track Motion.
