Pillar boxing in encore?
Greetings folks,
Switching from DVD Studio Pro to Encore. We love it and Media Encoder at my studio.
But… we can’t figure out why we get pillar boxing when we use the default mpeg settings for anamorphic widescreen stuff. Your typical 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 full raster square pixel master… And we get thin black bars on either side when it plays back in Encore letterboxed mode? And when the dvd plays?

Hi Tom,
I believe a couple of years ago, Adobe changed the PAR for anamorphic widescreen, so HD to SD doesn’t quite fill screen edge to edge anymore.
What I had read was that perhaps Adobe didn’t have it quite right and the BBC called them on it, so they brought the spec in line.
