    if you import, say 200 pictures into your bin, then start draging them to the timeline…is there a way for premiere to tell you if you have already draged a clip into the timeline? That way you are sure to not duplicate an image in your movie.

    I forgot what the difference is exactly, but your icons / thumbnails will look different in the project bin when they are present in the timeline.

    In the project window, check video use. It should be 1 for each picture.
