  • Pictures Alternating problem

Posted by Reid Gilliam on February 1, 2013 at 1:11 am

I recently started a project with sony vegas and I was moving a picture and pressed a button and this happened:
The pictures are alternating in two channels, and there is a shuffle icon with arrows. And i can’t see the channel settings that you would usually see to the left, like how loud it is and stuff.
    any ideas?

Hi Reid …At the beginning of the timeline on the left hand side immediately above the first picture where you see the Timeline seconds 00:00:00 , to the left of it and up in the other grey area you will see some 6 vertical dots. If you place you cursor on these dots it will change to a Drag pointer shape. Then holding down the relevant mouse button, drag it to the right to expose the hidden section. Maybe there is another way to do it but this but this will work

To see your channel settings again, move you cursor to the far left until it changes into a cursor with two arrows on it. When that happens, slowly drag it to the right to show the track headers again.
The two track mode is a new feature called Expanded Edit (page 161 in the manual).
Double-click any edit to enter, double-click again (or hit Esc) to exit.
The shortcut is to press 5 on the numeric keypad.

As Mike said, you have entered the new Expanded Edit mode by accident. Hit ESC to exit and stay away from the 5 key. lol

Thank you for the help on the channels, I can see them again now. But when I hit escape or 5, nothing happens. Any ideas?

And here is where it is at now:

As you can see the shuffle sign is still there, and the pictures are still alternating. I also went into Edit – Select – and expanded edit mode is not checked. If I press 5 or Esc this happens:

Anybody know what is going on?

[Reid Gilliam] “Anybody know what is going on?”

Yup. Right-click on the Track Header and select Expand Track Layers. While it looks similar to Expanded Edit Mode, it is entirely different.

Yea, I’m not sure how you got into that mess since I beleive the only way to turn it on and off is by right-clicking the header and selecting it. The other problem is that Sony has two very similar features that confused people as to what they are and when you should use them. Glad you got it all sorted out.
