    Picture Resizing

    Hi
    Relatively new to Vegas and video editing.

    Can someone please clarify for me? Is it right that when using large photos (e.g 4416 x 3321 pixels & c2mb file size) that these should be re-sized to the video frame to reduce av file size and render process time etc?

    The usual rule of thumb is that, unless you’re doing a deep zoom, your images should be no larger than 2X your project size.
    For example, if your project is an NTSC DVD (720 x 480), make your images no larger than 1440 x 960.
    This still allows mild zooming in on the image without any degradation.
    IrfanView is a great (and free) image manipulation tool that has a very fast batch resizing option.

    If you are using NTSC DVD (720 x 480) it should be pointed out that those are non-square pixels of 0.9091. That would make the square pixel dimensions of 655×480. If you resize to 2x at 1440 and multiply by 0.9091 you get 1309×480. This is to make sure that your images look correct.
