Picture pan/crop/zoom, interlace problems
I think everyone here knows what I am talking about. I have a very big project which basically is taking a bunch of hi-res photos and zooming in and out/panning around on them. I can’t for the life of me get rid of the nasty interlacing lines. I have tried force resample, reduce interlace flicker, rendering as prgressive scan, and supersampling (sub pizel rendering as it was called on another forum). Is there any full proof way to get a clean pan/zoom/scan on a photo?

Tried that as well and it does cover it up a little but it is still very noticeable.

What format are your pics in? have you tried converting to a png file.
I too sometimes get this with hi-res photo’s and after changing to a PNG file and adding “reduce interlace flicker”, my problems disappear.

The only way I could consistantly get decent results using large stills, and some of them had to be 32bit TGA’s was to do as you have done with force resample, reduce interlace flicker etc but importantly I found the best results were obtained by going to your ‘Project properties’ and setting ‘Full resolution rendering quality’ to BEST and ‘Deinterlace method’ to BLEND FIELDS. Slower render but vastly improved results.
Also found that for motion video with slo-mo and hi-speed seections render theses sections with ‘best’ and ‘interpolate fields’ selected and that seems to work well. Let us know how you go as I am still interested to see if anyone comes up with the perfect solution to this hairy old problem that keeps popping up.
