It’s not very difficult in FCP either.

    1) Put video on two overlapping layers.

    2) Double click one layer or the other to load into the viewer.

    3) Click on the Motion tab of the viewer and scale and reposition as needed uing te controls.

    4) Repeat on the video for the other layer.

Thanks David…but that method doesn’t seem to work for me. As I size & crop the top layer, I only get black behind it. The odd thing is that when I sized and cropped the lower layer, it eventually affected the top layer by further cropping it. – JR

Do you have the two clips one on top of the other in the timeline? If you’re having difficulty manipulating the layers, lock the V1 track so that you only scale and crop the top layer.

    All the best,

    John,

The method I described is the way it works, and I know it works, so you must be doing something wrong.

Once you put video on V1 & V2 you need to load one or the other into the viewer by highlighting just that clip and double clicking. Perhaps you have both layers highlighted?

    Thanks again David.
I just tried it again and everything worked perfectly. I have no idea what is different. Chalk it up to Operator Error.
