    Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good tutorial on how to cut a subject out of a photo and animate the subject and background. It’s a pretty popular effect now a days and I first saw it on the “kid Stays in The Picture” documentary.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks all,

This was certainly covered a couple of times. So please make a search including the archive.

Generally you shoot first a clean plate then your subject and use the pentool to cut your subject in AE. Your clean plate being your BG you could then set your layers to 3D and give the whole thing some depth by altering the Z-Axis value of your BG or subject layer.

If you don’t have a clean plate, you would need to duplicate your image, cut your subject in the top layer and eliminate it in the BG layer using the clone tool.

    Salut.
