picking proper “Render As” options for creating HD DVD output
I have a product that will create a DVD for me (as i don’t have DVD Architect). I want 16:9 aspect ratio so i can show it on my HD Flat screen. My desire is to create the .mpg or .m2t files and then import into the DVD authoring app. When i do my editing in Vegas 8 and then show it in the previewer it all looks good. However, when i run it in a 3rd party viewer i get 2 tiny black bars on each side which is telling me i’m not setting something up properly. I can pick the “strecth to fill output fram” but this will slightly distort the image. Any help would be appreciated

If your burning on a regular DVD burner, that it can’t be in HD. You need bluray auth, burner and player for that. If you can just connect your computer to your HDTV then anything is possible now. You can render as WMVHD or HD mpegs and play them full sdreen with media player. To watch an m2t file you should try VLC. Hope this helps. Danny Hays

Thanks Danny – this does help. Guess i’ll be asking Santa for BluRay burner :(. So when you say render as “WMVHD or HD mpegs” is there a specific template i can use or are there some custom settings within one of the templates i need to make. Thanks again

I gather your shooting HDV as you mentioned m2t files. Try the 8 mbps WMV template. It’s the best quality WMV template at the bottom of the list. You can also customise it and increase the bitrate, depending on the speed of the playback computer. The 8 mbps should look great though. Hope this helps. Danny Hays
