Pic from photoshop to AE according to NTSC DV
My concern is that my picture I’m working with in photoshop is 2000×528 pixels. So I’m wondering if I should make a new canvas thats 720×480 (NTSC DV standard) and take my transform tool in photoshop to size them down? Does this even make a difference? I’m so new at AE and I do know that you can resize the image when its opened in AE, but doesn’t my picture seem so large? Please respond ASAP! Thank You for your time!

You can leave the photo open in photoshop. Then FILE > NEW and choose from the “preset” drop down menu what you want “NTSC DV 720 x 480 (with guides)”
Then you can either
1. copy and paste the photo from the other open document to the new document…
2. … or you can SHIFT+CLICK from the layers pallette and drag the image into the new document window and let go of the mouse before releasing shift to center the photo immediately.Then scale the photo down to fit within that 720 x 480 space.

You an resize it in AE by using transform>scale. After Effects will handle it as long as your video card will handle it. My guess is that your video card will not be able to handle animating it with other layers though so I wolds scale it down to at least half. Keep it big if you are going to zoom in on a fine detail. But, if you are just wanting to see the entire ting, go ahead and scale it down a bit in photoshop. It will save you a lot of render time.

After I sent this post I was wondering about render time as well. I thought it might be a good idea to size them down a little bit before bringing them into AE. Thanks for your time, I really appreciate your brain in this matter.
