I am moving from 11.5 to 13. I am having some difficulties with the ambient occlusion in the physical renderer. The shadows seem very spotted and my render times are running at about 50% slower.

Can someone send me in the right direction for some explanation of this new renderer (besides greyscale as his focus is on the progressive viewport)

I haven’t seen an AO problem, but you have to keep in mind that with the physical renderer AO samples are controlled by the renderer samples, so lower settings may cause graininess. Generally the physical renderer will be slower — the cost of physical accuracy.
