I just had Photoshop CS2 DELETE my file with an error that I had ‘too many files open’. I had two files open, one small (rgb, 72dpi, 300×300 with 8 layers), and one large that I was working on (rgb, 72dpi, 853×480 with roughly 90 layers). After saving after every new layer set, saving often, the file is no longer there after the crash and instant closing of PS-CS2. Does anyone know of these new limitations, PS7 had no problem with handling ‘too many files open’ or too may layers.

You should not have gotten such an error. Try naming your layers using alphanumeric charachters and the safe ones such as ()_-. Characters such as the bullet, slash can have adverse effects. You will notice ceratin scripts fail such as layer sets to images.

What platform are you on, and are you connected to a server? Your file should not have disapeared and you may get it back after a few reboots (Had a similar problem in the past, btu it was conenctd to a netware server).
