  • Photoshop/After Effects Upgrade – Windows to Mac

I own the Windows version of the Adobe Video Collection Pro, which includes Photoshop CS and After Effects 6.5 Pro, but am selling my PC and purchasing a Mac. Ideally, I would love for the Photoshop/After Effects disks to be hybrid and allow my serial numbers to work on my new Mac. Assuming however, that this is not going to be a reality, does Adobe offer some form of rebate, or shall I call it a “side-grade” strategy? It seems like a waste to have to completely re-buy these two products when I’ve already done so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Cory

In the past Adobe would do a cross-grade for a nominal fee, I have no idea what their current policy is. They request you sign or agree to destroy and dispose of your current software once you receive the version for the new platform.

The fee covers the cost of new install disks and shipping, around $25 per application. In your case since there is no mac equivalent of the Production Studio this may pose a problem.

Call the toll-free Adobe store for details and have your customer number ready.

Thanks Brian, I gave the toll-free number a call and found out it’ll cost me $169 for Photoshop (from CS -> CS2) and $199 for After Effects (6.5 Pro to 7.0) … now I’ll just have to find someone looking for a 2.5 Photoshop-less Video Collection. I’m thinking of leaving AE6.5 with the suite … Final Cut Studio comes with Motion which will probably be enough for my needs.

    Thanks again Brian,
