  • Photoshop slates have wrong vid rate

I’m building identical NTSC and PAL sequences, and have just come to the PAL part of the project. There are about 60 clips with slates prior to each clip. I’ve built the slates separately in Photoshop for NTSC dimensions as well as PAL dimensions, but when I add a PAL slate to my sequence, I get the following error:

Operation not allowed. You cannot nest sequences with different editing timebases.

The vid rate on the PAL-sized Photoshop files is 29.97 while my sequence will be 25. Anyone know how to change the vid rate of a Photoshop file, or have a workaround so I can keep working on this?

    Thanks,

I think you need to import your GFX when FCP is setup for PAL not NTSC. Not sure, I don’t do PAL stuff but once in a blue moon. Or maybe take the graphic out of the sequence it is in and place it on the timeline. Try importing a tiff or JPEG instead of a PSD and it will look at it as a still and not a sequence.

Stills seem to “inherit” the settings of whatever sequence preset is selected when they are imported. Try removing the files from your project, change the sequence preset and re-importing. Check the “vid rate” column in the browser to confirm if this works. It worked for me when I tried.

    hope this helps,

    Score – that did it!

Thanks so much – I was hoping it was an easy fix that I was just having trouble figuring out.
