I have a Photoshop image that I need to use several times in a timeline. It is a map that over the course of its use a color coding is to appear on it representing the passage of time and different events during that time. Each color coding is on its own layer so I thought I could just reveal the proper layer when appropriate. However each time I place the PSD clip on the time line it is a repetition of the previous iteration of it rather than a distinct, discreet copy of the file…I hope this is making sense…

In other words, I put this map in the timeline. It’s plain b&w. I have the yellow layer fade in over a certain sector of the map. In its next usage, I want the yellow to already be there and have the blue layer fade in on its particular sector of the map. However, when I place the PSD clip down, have the yellow visible the length of the clip and fade in the blue, it changes the initial clip in kind so that now I have two clips doing the same thing: yellow the entire time, blue fading in.

How do I create this effect without this forced repetion? Must each one be its own QT file created in Motion or After Efffects?
