You must only judge IMAGE QUALITY and color in FCP on an EXTERNAL video monitor (not on the computer screen).

If you created your Photoshop image on an LCD monitor, it can look very different on an external video monitor.
You must learn to compensate for this when you create in Photoshop.

If you have certain video cards (such as PipePro and Kona) for use with FCP, they can actually output your Photoshop computer image as you work, so you can judge it properly for video.

    great…thanks…

it looks great on my computer screen,,,it;s the external monitor where it looks wacky…

but what you are saying is i just have to justify the colors by hand or by eye till i get it right !

I just got my own system, and since I only have one Apple display I got the DVI to Video adapter and plugged that into the second monitor output. Now my NTSC monitor is my second computer screen, and when I work in photoshop I can drag the images over and quickly check them for how they look on TV.

I haven’t done it yet (since I only hooked it up last night), but I also plan on using it to check the DVD preview in DVD studio pro, as well as a way to see what I’m doing in FCP.

At the TV station where I work we have Kona cards for the Macs in the Art Department, and they run everything out to the system and their monitors through the Konas.

As wonky as that sounds, yes.

You really should monitor video to video monitor via the DV Deck or Kona Card, not the computer if you want to see your colors in YUV colorspace.
