    Hi,
I’m importing 720/540 px – reduced to 720/480 px – still images into a FCP project. Many of the images were closely cropped when originals were taken with the SLR camera. My question is: can I bring the edge of the image up to the safe action guide for better composition and still have the screen filled with the image when viewed on TV.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jon

The safe action area is kind of fuzzy and varies a good deal. Going to title safe will definitely show the edges of the image. I usually try to doctor the images in Photoshop, paint in, clone, patch, or make up a border that can bleed to the edge of the frame.

    All the best,

On another note, if you are working in x480, your square pixel work should be in x534

Not with recent versions of FCP. It ask for 540.

Thanks everyone for the input. I’ll do some Photoshop doctoring and burn a trial run.
