Photoshop CS6 freezes momentarily at random
Has anyone experienced this? I do not get the beach ball or anything other than the program becomes irresponsive for several seconds all of the sudden.

It might be the background autosave feature.

Hmmmmmmm, could be. not used to auto save in Photoshop, is there a way I can find out for sure? Is it something I can control in the preferences?

Yeah it is a new feature in CS6, but depending on your disk speed and/or file size of your document it could be the cause of the hangs. To disable it, go into your preferences and under the “File Handling” section uncheck the box next to “Save in Background”.

So I unchecked the save on background feature, the intermittent hanging is still there. out of nothing.

I am having the same problem, and photoshop is even running on a SSD. It also happens in inDesign and it can be at any random time, even while doing nothing (e.g. not event/operational specific).

I’m also having exact same problem. It happens randomly, and comes back also randomly.

Thank you! This saved my life, Photoshop has been freezing on me by just clicking on the save button and turning off the save background option fixed it. Thanks!
