I am trying to record an Action to perform a tedious job on a video. The action is simple, Select with magic wand, feather selection, delete, go to next frame.

The reason the last step, go to next frame, is needed is so that when I hit the F-Key to run the action, it runs and goes to the next frame, ready to hit the F-Key again. So I can just hit F-key-F-key-F-key-F-key-F-key-F-key-F-key….you get the idea.

It works fine, EXCEPT the last step, go to next frame. The problem is that when recording the action, when I advance to the next frame, the Action records it as “go to frame 58” (for example), instead of being a less specific as in just being “go to the next frame” (whatever that frame is).

Anyone know how to record a true “next frame” and not record the specific Frame Number?

NOTE: I am interested in solving this, so please no advice on using other programs or questions like “why would you even want to….” Thanks.

I discovered it the moment after I posted the above question.

In case it helps someone else, when recording the action, instead of pressing the right arrow (or Pg Dwn) to advance to the next frame, instead hit the Next Frame button on the timeline controls (the arrow button to the right of the Play button).

I remember doing animation frames in the old days when I started using Photoshop, I am pretty sure the guy above me already said the right thing so I will add to this too.

I found this video that can also help visually that can possibly clarify your doubts when it comes to organization of frame by frame animations and to ensure that the animation loop goes smoother.
