I just bought Photoshop and Illustrator and have NO experience. This is what I am trying to do: make a poster with 3 pictures — ie. a cake plate with a cake on top with a strawberry on top of that. How do I do this without the background of each photo showing up — Can I “crop” just the photo (ie – just the strawberry)? then put them together? Do I use Photoshop to get the photos ready then bring them into Illustrator to put the poster together?

After that I want to give the whole thing a background color? How would I do that?

Can I add text to the poster also?

I know this may seem like I am asking a lot but I need to somehow do this in a very short amount of time.

First, I’d suggest that you watch the tutorials that come with Photoshop.

Each object will have to go on a separate layer and then you can use any of the several tools for extracting the main image from the background.
