Using Premiere Pro 2 – I want to add a still into the timeline, but I want to have a ‘flashgun’ effect (with a camera shutter sound) as the picture appears.

How can I achieve this please?

I find that simply using the levels filter works effectively.

Apply the levels filter to the image. Place your CTI where you want the flash to occur. Place an RGB white input level (2nd down) keyframe, advance the CTI 3 frames with the right arrow, then change the RGB white input level to 90 (you can play with that setting), advance an other 3 frame set the level back to 255.

    Here’s another way

If you are using them a lot within the project, this is a quick win.

Creat a new sequence name it flash.

In the new sequence make a white matte about 12 frames long,
after 6 frames insert an opacity keyrame, and drop the opacity down to the end at 12 frames.( this will give you a nice drop off).

Add a ‘camera click & motorwind’ sound effect.

You can then drop the flash sequence into your edit wherever its needed.
