I’m exporting some HDV footage to Photo JPEG format for submitting to a stock-footage house. When I’ve done this in the past, using FCP Export to Quicktime conversion, everything’s okay when I open the file using QT player. I thought I’d try using Compressor’s PhotoJPEG 75 setting so I could batch process a number of files and that I might get a better result.

When I do this and view the Compressor file in QT Player, it opens into a squeezed 4×3 window but the FCP exported QT files open into a correct 16×9 window. If I check via get info, the HDV pixel size 1440×1080 is maintained. When I import both PhotoJPEG files into FCP they open in the viewer in the correct 16×9 aspect and the browser window doesn’t suggest any difference in the files.

Maybe this is some weird aberration or I’ve missed something. My question is why would QT display these files differently? Is it anything to be concerned about? Thanks for your insights… FCP 6.05 and OSX 10.5.5.
