Hello, I’m putting CCU’s on my Ikegami 400W’s. I was looking at 100 meter 26 pin cable, but have run across the Phatcat by Laird. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on the Phatcat? It really looks appealing and would save me some money in the long run. I can run 1,000′ with the Phatcat on Cat 5. My question is will it hurt my quality? I know I have to have power at each camera with the Phatcat, but if everything else would work and be controllable it seems like the way to go.
Any help is appreciated it, I have no experience with CCU’s at this point.
    Thanks, Gerald

I also explored the Phatcat, but I must tell you, if you have the money I would lean towards a fiber based solution.

If you do decide to go with the Phatcat, you can find heavy duty “tactical” CAT5 and connectors from companies that market it towards automated manufacturing machinery. The components are a bit pricey but it’s pretty much a bullet proof system.
