  • Persistent timelapse flicker on S5 despite full manual settings

    Hi everyone,

I’m taking a shot in the dark here to see if anybody else has experienced flicker issues on timelapses when using the S5 internal timer. When I first got the camera there was no such issue but now I cannot seem to escape a degree of exposure flicker. I have ALL settings on manual and often use old manual Nikkor lenses. Occasionally there is no problem but 7 times out of 10 my timelapses have this issue and it seems to be random. I’m going out of my mind trying to get to the bottom of it.

I’m unable to use Exposure Levelling as I’m in full manual as opposed to a priority mode. Most of my timelapses are at night but I have run tests in the daylight where exposures are less than 1 sec and still see the issue.

I connect lenses (EOS mount) via a Sigma adapter, but I don’t see why this might be a cause – I’ve used the adapter from the beginning and the flicker problem didn’t used to exist.

    Thanks in advance,

    Simon
