  • permanantly change bars and tone to -20db?

    Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to change the default setup of all the bars and tone generators to -20db instead of -12db. It’s getting really annoying to have to change it to -20 everytime I have to set up my timeline for output, it would be great to be able to just drop the generator in my timeline and not worry about changing the audio, as it’s one more step to worry about when you’re in a rush. Thanks.

Just have a project with elements, effects and slates that’s always open. Make Bars and Tone at -20db and always grab the one from that project.

You can’t change the default settings on the video generator…at least to my knowledge. Go get around this, I have a toolkit project file that hold all of my commonly used elements (slates, filters, custom transitions). I just open it and use it like another ‘Effects’ tab when I need to pull something into my current project.

In here, I’ve set up a sequence that has Bars linked to 4 tracks of tone set to -20. I just edit this preset into my sequences when I’m setting up a sequence for output.

In the “edit to tape” applet you have the option of
setting the tone to -20 as well as the duration and
how much black you have between that and your slate.

It will stay that way permanently until you re-install updated drivers or software.

I can’t imagine doing it any other way really.

I do that as well. The project is always left open, so it’s easily accessable.

Could you please elaborate on this? Slowly, as if you were speaking to a slightly mentally challenged child?
