    Hi,

I was wondering if there is any history with FCP and stability issues regarding network traffic and FCP itself?

I have a main editor on an iMac with a few G-Raids, this iMac is connected over 1Gb to a Macbook Pro who has acces to the G-Raids.

The assistant is working on the laptop only streaming HD Prores Proxy material, generation no more then 10MB/s of traffic.

But the FCP on the client (iMac) side has frequent crashes.

I was wondering if network activity has any influence on FCP7?

ie. I know that a Time machine backup over the network completely locks up FCP7, even when there is nothing being transferred.

    Any advice more then welcome!

    Karel.

We’ve seen similar performance issues when doing the same thing. It “shouldn’t” be a problem, but FCP doesn’t seem to be happy when you do this.

I don’t have any solutions. We only did this with one project because of a time crunch.

    Cheers

    John
