Performance Slowing
I have a brand new iMac with 2.8 ghz processor as well as 4 gigs of RAM.
The problem: After about 10 minutes of use in FCP, the performance goes down greatly. I can’t click and hold any drag points in the edit window.
I can’t scale very well because the cursor won’t hang on to the slider bar. When I click and drag a clip into the time line, it drops in random places with out me letting go of the button. What do I do?

At first sign of any weirdness trash prefs and rebuild permissions.

To rebuild permissions use the Disk Utility app. Select your system drive and choose Repair Permissions.
