I’m have installed Premier Pro on an older P4B266 mother board. It’s running a P4 2.4 Ghz processor with a 512k cache. I have a Matrox G550 display card (32 megs) and 512 megs of memory. This is a software only edit system right now using firewire only as input.

Here’s my question. Will I get any more performance in Pro if I add more system memory and upgrade the video card?

    Thanks.

Adding another 512 gb RAM will keep Pro from using the Page file, which can slow things way down on larger projects. I would not try to do serious editing with only 512.
Another video card (Nvidia 128 MB) will help with GUI redraw issues (Pro’s interface gets funky with bits of the desktop showing thru and window trails, etc.). Also having a card with Open GL will give you a few more effects in Pro.
