Hi, i recently started to use Final Cut 4 to edit and post some clips on Youtube.

I’m using a Mac G5 dual 2ghz with the only addition of 3gb of ram to the standard issue, i know that it’s old but served me fine until now…

My issue is that when i try to export a file, let’s say 1-2 min clip takes at least 1 hour!

When i use other software to just compress a full length movie takes 20min, see the huge difference?

    I appreciate for the help.

    Thanks

Do you export using “Current Settings” ?
    What are your sequence settings?

Hi! well, i’m just editing video from my iphone 4 at 720p adding some PiP and color correction to make a Vlog.
If i try to export using quick time movie, takes 30min and 500mb file, when i use the other setting i use mpeg-4 and then H.264 and keep the same 720p (because are the only formats i got a bit of knowledge of) takes at least 1h and with crappy results.
To me..i don’t mind the video codec as far as it’s good and below 50mb/1min.

    Thanks

Video files from iPhone are h.264 and h.264 is NOT an editing codec.

You need to convert to a proper editing codec before bringing the files into FCP.
