pen tool/ mask question
Is it possible to create say an X with the pen tool? where you have two straight lines that intersect and are all one mask?

No, that would be two masks.
What kind of result are you looking for? Do you want to create a mask using the render>stroke effect? If so, you can apply the same stroke to all (both, in this case) masks on a layer.

I was looking to create a sort of vine using the pen tool that would have pen strokes branching off it, and then was going to apply a 3d stroke. I know there are other ways to do it, I was just intersted in seeing if was possible to do it with the pen tool.
