What are the differences between archiving with Sony PDW-U1 and a Blu-Ray burner ? Right now I shoot with a Sony Z1 and archive all my project and footage on dual-layer DVD (I keep the orginal footage on tape, and backup only the edited and rendered stuff). But soon I will soon buy a PMW-EX1 so I will need a 25-50 GB media tp archive the original footage.

I did not know there were Dual layer burneds available in Blu Ray.

Sony XDCAMHD burner can burn at 4x speed and 50 Gigs.It is more durable..but will cost 8x more then domestic blu ray.
I am personally going for domestic blu ray-it can only get better and cheaper next 12 months.

Can you do incremental back-ups with Sony PDW-U1 ?
In his 1rst look at the PMW-EX1 Nigel Cooper mentions that the Sony Pro disc burner will first be a player, and will need a firmware update to burn, but also to handle the EX1 footage:

So I am not sure that the Sony disc burner is really what I need…
