There is a section in the document that states:

To transfer media from a P2 card using the PC Card slot of a PowerBook:

    1. Make sure the Panasonic driver software is installed on the PowerBook.
For more information, go to https://www.panasonic.com/broadcast.

Where does one find this software? Is it included with the camera or is there a site to download it.

It will be included with the camera, and I would expect that it will be available for download as well. The PC version requires a software driver and it’s available for download, so presumably the Mac version will be as well.

Reading the release notes it Apple seems to be suggesting that the camera records or at least plays back DV 50.

Here is the quote from the FCP release notes I am talking about. Do they just have it wrong?

    Note:
If you use the camcorder to shoot on DV or DVCPRO tape, Final Cut Pro can
access the camcorder using FireWire device control, as is done with any other DV
camcorders and decks. This tape-based method is limited to DV-25 and DV-50 formats.

Apple’s manual is wrong. The camera cannot use DVCPRO tape, nor DVCPRO50 tape. The only type of tape it can take is miniDV, and the only data it can record on that tape is miniDV.

I thought so, but I was hoping it was a last minute surprise.
