PCIe SSD enclosure for Thunderbolt 2/3?
So I stumped the OWC tech guys asking if I could run a Samsung 960 Pro PCIe SSD

wih their new Helios 3: https://www.owcdigital.com/products/mercury-helios-3
which at least they confirmed works with a 2014 MacBook Pro (11,3) on OS 10.12.4 using the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adaptor.
The laymen consensus is the 960 is not suitable for an internal (bootable) drive for OS(X), but any reason it can’t be formatted as storage? Even slowed down to T2 speeds on a PCIe 2.0 machine, it should be crazy fast, and wide open when I move to a T3 machine. Any help much appreciated…
