I am working on a PC-based Avid, and want to be able to export QT movies of my scenes, burn them to DVD to bring home, and then upload them to my iWeb site on my Mac Pro. I want to do this because uploading is slow and at home it won’t interrupt my work time.

But every time I try I keep getting this error message on my mac “the file is not a movie file”

I have been exporting as quicktime from Avid Media Composer using various codecs, most recently the H.264 which I thought was universal. I checked the quicktime on another PC in the office and it opened with QuickTime player as well as with Real Player. But when I tried to open it on my Mac, I got nowhere. Couldn’t open with MPEG streamclip either, or Flip4Mac.

any ideas? (I do have QuickTime Pro)

    thanks!

    That should definitely work.
However, you mention burning to DVD. Not sure how you about that, but maybe something goes wrong there. Give it a try with a USB memory stick or an external USB or FW drive.
Other than that, if it works on all other computers except on your Mac, there may be something wrong with your Mac. Is the file extension “.mov” present?

I also tried it on a few other Macs (my husband’s and then a couple of others at work) and it didn’t work on any of them either. Yes it has a .mov extension.
