PC Spec Advice
Having tried two Asus TUF 1660 Super Graphics cards in my PC to hopefully make editing in Vegas Pro 18 tolerable, neither would boot the computer. The first one stalled at B2 in the boot sequence and the second one does not even put out a video signal. Both also killed all power to my keyboard! I cannot update the motherboard BIOS either, as it is too old and apparently only will do so up to Windows 8. My old NVIDIA and AMD Radeon cards both still work just fine!! So I am now asking you, my colleagues in the know, what you would recommend. I only need a motherboard and processor, 32GB memory and a fast graphics card (NVIDIA or AMD Chipset?). My hard drives, mouse, keyboard, monitors, etc. are not that old so I still can use them. I plan to check out Micro Center and a local computer shop to spec out and price a PC, both stores located within 15-20 minutes’ drive of my home. As always, I appreciate your comments, suggestions, advice and feedback, and look forward to purchasing a new PC sooner than later.

I just Purchased a new computer, it has the latest Intel CPU, 16 GB Ram and a 8 GB Graphics card and a lot more and it set me back $1702 and change Canadian Dollars. But it runs Vegas 18 fine

Working with a local computer shop, I have narrowed it down to the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X processor with a Gigabyte x570 MB and 32GB 3200MHz RAM.
I STILL am at odds about the graphics card, though, and want one that will work well with Vegas Pro 18. I have narrowed it down to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2000 Series. I am going back and forth between the RTX 2060 SUPER and the RTX 2070. (same price). What I don’t know really is which has the biggest bang for the buck and which will work better in Vegas Pro 18. I really need some good advice about this!
My purchase is on hold until I resolve this question. Your advice will be most appreciated, as always! Thanks in advance.

My new computer has an Asteck Gaming Motherboard, 16 GB ram, Intel 10th Gen I3 CPU, an 8GB MSI Graphics Card, a Surround Sound card and an M2 card holding 2 Operating systems, and an SSD holding Windows 10 plus 4 Two TB Hard Drive. Vegas runs and operates fine with these specs.

Ended up purchasing the RTX 2060 SUPER.

Friend is having trouble editing 4k with Vegas 17 on Win10.
He just upgraded to a i7-9700 CPU yet is still having performance issues.
Preview is still slow and laggy without making a preview/proxy file
Yet, I have a similar rated AMD CPU and have no issues editing without a proxy file.
He also has GPU acceleration selected.
Are there any settings he can tweak to get reasonable performance commensurate with his fairly powerful CPU?

GPU does not matter much for video editing. I can render/preview 4k just fine with an AMD 2600, and GPU enabled has zero effect on render times.
