PC-Based Parse Error
Hello.
I am running AE CS3 on Win. Vista.
I have encountered one of those issues where AE crashes and then won’t start again, displaying instead a message that reads
“Error Parsing Properties List”
Now i’ve seen other posts on here about this but please keep in mind that i am using a PC.
I would appreciate any advice on how to fix this and prevent it from happening again.
I have tried to reinstall AE but the problem persists.
please help.

Actually here’s the solution:
(I’m running Vista so this would be a little different on XP.)
All you have to do is delete the contents of
C:\Users\*User*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\8.0
and then run AE.

Sorry I know this has been posted, but there is a little confusion.
If you are getting the error “parsing list”
First try right clicking on After Effects and run as administrater.
If that does not work go to
C: Users / *Main Username* / AppData / Roaming / Adobe
In the Adobe folder delete the After Effects folder. It will run then. Also make note that the AppData folder might be hidden.

If you delete one of the XML files in this directory (the directory that contains the preferences file) at a time, then you can avoid needlessly throwing away such useful things as saved workspaces.
